For The Love Of Music returns to Kingwood High School!

Audition Announcement

The Just About Kids Foundation is hosting the 4th Annual For the LOVE of Music benefit vocal competition and they want you to participate!  Tryouts are January 31, 2015 at Kingwood High School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  There are elementary, middle and high school solo vocal divisions and a new duet category has been added this year. Tryouts are open to ALL students in Elementary, Middle and High Schools (public, home or private schools).  All students who try out will be eligible to perform in the opening Tribute song at the “For the LOVE of Music” Benefit Show.
Finalists from the Tryouts will compete at “For the LOVE of Music ”4th Annual Show on February 21, 2015 at KHS.  Music professionals will be judges at the Benefit Show including judges from Sugar Hill Recording & J Rose Productions.
All finalists will receive a participation certificate and trophy.  All 1st Place finalists will receive a certificate to record a demo CD with SugarHill Studios and the opportunity to perform at the Spring ThisIsKingwood Festival.  The first place High School Division will receive a $500 college scholarship.  The scholarship is in memory of Mr. Doug Love, a beloved KHS substitute teacher who passed away last year.  Proceeds from the event are used by the Just About Kids Foundation to fulfill academic teacher grants within Kingwood High School.

The community is invited to come and attend this Open House event to learn more about programs and activities at the Kingwood Community Center, which currently hosts about twenty different programs; this event is a great opportunity to find out more about each program. There will also be an opportunity for the community to share what they want to see at the Kingwood Community Center as the staff attempts to grow the current program listing.  If you have any questions please contact the Kingwood Community Center at 281-348-2570.
